In the 2021 Super Bowl, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers went up against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs, with a final score of 31-9. The Buccaneers recently acquired Tom Brady when he transferred from the Patriots late last year. Tom Brady gave the Buccaneers a big advantage because he is a skilled player, and has already won many Super Bowls. This was the Buccaneers’ second Super Bowl win. The Kansas City Chiefs had two pre-existing Super Bowl wins including their win from last year in 2020. If the Chiefs had won the 2021 game, it would have been their third Super Bowl win.
The Weeknd, a popular musician, performed during this year’s Halftime show and sang eight different songs, including his song “Blinding Lights” which was the most listened to song of 2020. Another highlight of this year’s Superbowl was a commercial that came before the Super Bowl featuring Amanda Gorman. Ms. Gorman is a young poet who read a poem at the inauguration of Joe Biden. In the ad, she read one of her poems which honored three essential workers, and by doing so she became the first inaugural poet to read at the Superbowl.
There were many highlights from this year’s Super Bowl although it took place during a challenging time. Unlike other years, organizers took this year’s Super Bowl as a chance to thank frontline workers. Many frontline workers were invited to this year’s Super Bowl, although due to Covid the stands were not as packed as usual. The empty stands were an example of how Covid has touched so many aspects of everyone’s lives, including sports traditions like the Super Bowl.
