After the holidays are over, it can be easy to spend the rest of the cold winter months feeling inactive and unmotivated. However, there are lots of fun and exciting winter sports and activities to explore. One of them is skiing, specifically the Ottoson Ski Club, which started up for this year on January 6th. In fact, the ski club is so popular that not everyone who signs up can get in, as it is a random raffle. But what really goes on in the one of the most popular clubs in Ottoson–and is it really worth the hype? Today we’ll be getting the inside scoop from Evie Kelder (7th grade) and Ellie Miller (7th grade), 2 first time-members of the Ottoson Ski Club.

Why did you choose to sign up for the Ski Club?
Evie: Because I love to ski.
Ellie: I chose to sign up for ski club because I like to ski, and it’s a good, rare opportunity to ski.
What days does Ski Club happen, and where?
Both: Wachusett Mountain (Near Princeton and Westminster, about 1 hour away) and the group takes a bus there on Mondays after school.
What is your favorite trail at Wachusett, and why?
Evie: Norms way, it’s fun and rarely icey.
Ellie: Conifer Connection, it is icy and powdery.
Are lessons included in the Ski Club, or is it just free skiing?
Evie: You can do lessons, but most do free skiing.
Ellie: You have to pay separately through the program, it is not included in the ski club.
What does a day at the Ski Club look like for you?
Evie: Go on a couple of runs, and wait in line for a while also
Ellie: Mostly waiting in line why still going a few slopes.
What are your favorite and least favorite parts of skiing?
Ellie’s Favorite: Rushing down the slopes.
Ellie’s Least Favorite: Waiting in the long lines for the chair lift.
Thank you to Evie and Ellie for allowing us to interview them and share all of this interesting information about the Ottoson Ski Club. Though it may be a long bus ride and the lines for the chair lift can take a while to get through, it’s all worth it once you get to the top. It’s also a great opportunity to build your skills on the slopes, make new friends in different LC’s with similar interests to you, and just have a good time with your classmates!
