I started playing in 3rd grade, and I play the violin. So that means I have been playing for 4 years now.
Why did you want to learn this instrument?
I thought violin seemed fun because I had seen people playing it, and slowly but surely I started getting into it.
Was it hard to learn this instrument? Why or why not?
Yes, it was very hard because I had to learn basic notes on Zoom, due to COVID-19.
Have you ever performed in front of an audience? What was easy/difficult about doing this?
Yes, multiple times. For me I found it pretty easy because it does not feel too different from rehearsals.
What is your favorite song that you’ve ever learned, and why?
In 6th grade, we did a song called “Lady Gaga Hit Mix” which was super fun to play. It had so many fun rhythms and notes which is why I enjoyed it so much.
Do you think that there is a sense of teamwork/community in orchestra?
Yes! I have developed many friendships with fellow musicians.
How do you work together to learn/play music together?
We have a conductor who keeps us on track, and all musicians practice at home so we are ready for rehearsals.
Do you think being in an orchestra has affected the person you are in everyday life? How?
Definitely! I now understand the rhythm of popular songs that I hear on the radio. It is pretty funny!
