In 2025, Netflix is set to release a wide range of new seasons and television shows, sparking excitement among fans. These new shows could either be a flop – or possibly the best show of the year. While some have criticized Netflix in recent years for boring shows and a decrease in quality, these upcoming releases could revitalize the platform. There will be many new movies and TV shows coming out all throughout the year, as well as some returning series.
At the beginning of the year, the dark fantasy anime series, Castlevania: Nocturne will come back with season two. On January 4th, the anime, SAKAMOTO DAYS will join the Netflix catalog featuring an ex-hitman teaming up with a new crew trying to stop a group of assassins. At the end of January, on the 17th, the movie, “Back In Action,” starring Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx as a duo of former CIA spies.
The second month of 2025 comes out with some more great series for Netflix. The new series, Bear Hunt stars Bear Grylls in this reality competition where the contestants must avoid the “Bear” while fending for themselves in the wilderness. Many fans of The Witcher movies should get excited for the second film coming out on February 11th, The Witcher: Sirens of The Deep. Geralt of Rivia, a brooding professional monster hunter for hire (also known as witcher), struggles to keep his humanity in a medieval dark fantasy world ruled by corrupt kings, queens, and mages, where poverty, violence and intolerance are rampant, normal humans are sometimes worse than actual monsters.
For March and April, only 2 new series are coming to Netflix. On March 14, The Electric State, starring Mille Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt in a big-budget adaptation of the novel The Electric State by Simon Stålenhag. The Electric State is about a teen girl and her robot embarking on an adventure. It is perfect for fans of Black Mirror and Fallout. In April, the series, Devil May Cry, season 1 is coming to Netflix. The series is about a demon hunter seeking vengeance.
These new series and movies that are coming to Netflix’s catalog aren’t the only content Netflix is introducing. Many series are returning for some new seasons like Cobra Kai with the final season, Ginny and Georgia in season 3, Stranger Things with the final season, and Wednesday coming back with season 2. These new additions to the Netflix catalog could be anywhere from your new favorite or your least favorite!
